Indie Summer '22 Recap
We've been busy. Let's talk Tornado Cash, Music NFTs, Three Arrows & ZK EVM news.
What we’ve been building:
Improved Database Management - We started using a tool called
fauna-gql-upload
that allows us to manage all of our GraphQL schema and database resources in code - making it much more manageable for us to apply changes across environments and track changes over time.POAP Integration - We implemented a basic POAP integration for lvl protocol. It supports the workflow where a community admin can enter their list of POAP events and then triggers a sync where we pull all the claimed tokens for each event. This is the foundation for allowing community members to boost their lvl skills by earning POAPs.
UX Flows - The product team has been cranking through updates to UX flows for lvl protocol, which are getting more and more refined, looking to answer all our burning lvl user story desires. We've been working on integrations and settings to support how a community manager's might maintain their specific community.
Implementing Bug Fixes, refactoring data flow and integrations for lvl protocol - We implemented a fix for the NFT loading flow to show user's NFTs in the token view. Additionally refactored the logic for the data flow of NFTs across the app as well as finally adding a draft of the implementation for integrating Sourcecred with the new standard.
Cyber Cafe:
GitPOAP In June, Colfax from GitPOAP presented their product, which is a way to track open source contributions on chain.
He walked us through a few projects that are using GitPOAP, including ethereum.org and OpenZeppelin.
He discussed one of the current challenges is that registering new repositories is a very manual process - they are working on making it easier for project owners to register their own open source repositories with GitPOAP so contributors can earn POAPs with their contributions.
Contributions are typically tracked with Pull Request merges. For example, if you as a contributor to an OpenZeppelin project get one of your PRs successfully merged in 2022 you can earn an "OpenZeppelin 2022 Contributor" POAP.
They are also looking into supporting other non-technical contributions (e.g. Figma)
We discussed some possible integration points with lvl protocol. They are working on introducing both project and community constructs so that you can see all GitPOAPs related to a specific project or those related to a community.
They also want to support private git repositories in the longer term future.
Thanks for joining us, Colfax 💪
COINVISE In May, Cody from Coinvise came to show-off the version 3.1 of the platform. Their latest premise - powerful, no-code tools to launch and manage web3 communities through community tokens and NFTs.
A centralized dashboard for creators to launch communities
Profiles designed for communities to incentivize participation
A widgets tab, where community builders have access to a variety of tools
Thanks for your time, Cody 🤝
What we’re talking about:
ZK EVM is coming, low barrier ways for ETH devs to leverage zk-rollups 👀
The US Treasury just audited the decentralization of Tornado Cash, which resulted in a sanction, and Netherlands FIOD arrested a dev who wrote the open source code. In steps towards decentralization, the Tornado Cash Multisig was disbanded and the last remaining owner is the DAO
The Merge is on track for Sept 15th-16th of this year. 📆58750000000000000000000.
The Three Arrows Capital crash, a historic failure that will have ripple effects on global economy for years to come, or in other words:
Bear Market, fortune favors builders 🛠 Let’s gooo 💪
Coopahtroopa shares his latest musings on the viability of Music NFT’s - “they are simply a net new revenue stream to provide an artist with additional income on top of the existing system. The more streams a song has, the more valuable the Music NFT should be.” Read more here.
